The Beginning

One night in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, my wife and I were on our way to see a movie and, while entering the subway, we saw something so shocking that we felt the need to document it for future generations. Someone had used the emergency exit panic bar as a "table" on which to eat an entire fried chicken dinner, leaving the half eaten chicken legs strewn about for some unfortunate MTA worker to clean up. There were witnesses - others who were also waiting for the train. They had clearly normalized this type of crime scene and were staring  at US like WE were the weird ones as we pointed at the carnage, vacillating between horrified gasps and childish laughter. In one of her many inspired moments, my wife immediately coined the term "Emergency Ghetto Situation," or E.G.S. for short.

And so begins a blog that will have you asking "Who is this guy, and what gives him the right to tell us what's ghetto and when it's an emergency?"
